"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city… pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." — Jeremiah 29:7

Small businesses are the heartbeat of our community. They create jobs, sponsor local events, and keep our neighborhoods alive. Yet many are still struggling.

Why We Are Here

COVID-19 forced many small businesses to close their doors forever. Those that remain often face heavy burdens—late bills, slow recovery, and competition from online retailers that pull dollars away from our community. Even today, some local businesses are barely holding on.

County, township, and nonprofit programs are limited and cannot meet every need. That is where we, as a community, must step up.

What We Can Do Now

Our bill assistance program is available if your business has applied for county, township, or nonprofit help and been denied or exhausted those funds. You may apply to Hearts & Hands United and we will review your application prayerfully, contact your provider directly, negotiate for a lower balance whenever possible, and pay the bill directly to the provider on your behalf.

We also organize Community Cash Mobs. These are days when community members show up together at a local business and each spend five to ten dollars. Dozens of small purchases can mean thousands in revenue, helping to keep doors open and spirits high.

What We Hope to Do in the Future

Our Storefront Renewal program will work with local contractors to help businesses refresh their storefronts and curb appeal. Contractors will provide a discount, and Hearts & Hands United will cover the remaining balance—ensuring that no business misses out on making their store more eye-catching and welcoming. A simple facelift can draw in new customers and help businesses thrive.

We also plan to offer expanded business support as we grow. This includes workshops on financial stewardship and marketing, partnerships with other local organizations, and sponsorships for community events hosted at small business locations.

Community-Funded and Pay It Forward

Because this work is solely community-funded, there may be times when funds are limited. If we are able to help your business, we ask that you consider returning the favor in whatever way is possible for you—whether by donating, sponsoring, or volunteering.

This cycle of compassion ensures that help continues to flow to those who need it most and that our community remains strong, full of love and neighborly support.
